Corgis put on a royal show at Rose Bay Dog Beach
Queen Elizabeth cannot live without her Corgis and the breed is clearly becoming more popular in Sydney and eastern suburbs owners have organised a royal gathering this weekend.
So says Corgi owner Andrew Burgess who is looking forward to bringing his furry friend Space to the Sydney Corgi Beach Day at Rose Bay beach this Sunday.
“It’s just a great chance to meet up with the other Corgi owners and we love bringing the dogs together,” he said.
Organiser and Aussie Corgis Group member Theodora Chan said Rose Bay dog beach was perfect for a Corgi catch up as it was the best dog beach in the metropolitan area.
“Last year was our first beach day in honour of the So Cal Corgi Beach Day, where hundreds of them turned up,” said Ms Chan.
“We wanted to start up the Australian chapter and we are hoping to get more publicity for the event.”
Ms Chan said 70 owners and their pooches had confirmed attending the event for the corgi races, prizes and food from 11am.
“Corgis are very clever, sometimes a bit too clever, extremely loyal, with stacks of personality,” she said.
“They are really good with kids and they are like a little shadow following you around, plus their stumpy legs are adorable.”
