Behind every kennel prefix are stories of dedication, learning, friendship, triumphs and heartache, and a lifelong love of the breed. The Welsh Corgi Club of NSW is proud to shine a light on the members who have helped shape our Welsh Corgi community. We invite selected members to share the history of their kennels, their experiences in the dog world, and their involvement with the breed across the years.
By looking back at these journeys, we gain valuable insight for the path ahead. The lessons learned, the dogs remembered, the mentors, the mateship, and the determination and belief all form part of the living history of our breeds. These personal histories are treasured within our Club, not only as a testament to the breeders themselves, but for the knowledge passed from one generation of corgi enthusiasts to the next. Without these histories, our Club would have no foundation, and we are deeply grateful for each member’s contribution to the heritage of our breeds.
At the same time, we recognise that fledgling kennels and new exhibitors play an equally important role in our future. Without this ‘new blood’, our Club — and our Corgis — may one day fade away. Their enthusiasm, fresh ideas, and commitment ensure the continuation of the passion that has sustained our breeds for generations.

In this Member Spotlight, Christina shares the story behind her kennel and the values guiding its development — a commitment to correct type, sound temperament, and dogs raised as part of the family.
With Pembrokes regularly seen in NSW show rings, careful health screening, and thoughtful socialisation at the heart of the breeding program, Lwysaf represents the next generation of dedicated breeders. This is a story of learning, mentorship, and building something meaningful for the future of the Welsh Pembroke Corgi.

Hello, I’m Christina, the breeder behind Lwysaf Pembroke Corgis in New South Wales. I established my prefix in 2020 with the aim of producing Pembrokes with correct type, sound temperament, and a strong adherence to the breed standard. I show my dogs regularly across NSW, and I take great pride in raising well-socialised, healthy puppies who are suited to both family homes and the show ring.
At Lwysaf, I breed both natural bob-tail puppies and full, fox-like tails, celebrating the beautiful diversity within the Pembroke breed.
I grew up surrounded by dogs and eventually found my way back into the show world with a deep appreciation for the Pembroke Welsh Corgi. Lwysaf is intentionally small and family-centred — I plan each pairing carefully and place strong emphasis on temperament, structure, and breed type.
I follow the recommended health testing for Pembrokes, including genetic screening for full DNA but mainly look at Von Willebrandes, DM and fluffy gene. All puppies are raised in my home with early socialisation and plenty of individual attention to prepare them for life with their new families.
I have enjoyed encouraging results in the show ring across New South Wales. The Lwysaf prefix has appeared in a variety of regional and all-breeds show results, including Royal Bathurst and other NSW fixtures. My dogs have earned class wins, challenges, and reserves, reflecting their soundness and promise.
Some of my dogs of note include:
• “Theo” Lwysaf In The Texan Band – awarded class and challenge placements at NSW shows.
• “Daisy” Lwysaf Dream Upon A Star – recognised in event results with promising achievements.
• “Amber” Lwysaf Kiss Under Texan Skies – awarded reserve and challenge wins at club and regional events.
Theo and Amber have both also won multiple best in class group awards.
As a young kennel, I’m proud of the consistent progress my dogs are making in the ring.
I’m listed on platforms such as RightPaw and DogzOnline as a breeder who follows responsible, vet-supported practices. I carry out all recommended health testing, provide comprehensive puppy paperwork, and keep welfare, temperament, and long-term wellbeing at the centre of everything I do.
I’m also active on social media, where I share show updates, litter news, and everyday life with my dogs.
